16 Minutes Of The Most Rage Ever On Xenoverse 2 (2024)

This video makes me glad that I had an epiphany to put time into FighterZ.
Edit: I think what pisses me off way more is when players lag to the point where you can't touch them but they can perfectly touch you even if you KNOW you're plus in the predicament. Or when your opponent can do something just fine when you can't do it at all like Backhits.
Time and time again I kept looking at XenoVerse 2 as a 3D fighting game that has so much potential to be good but the devs just don't care to make that happen. The only way it will happen at this point is XenoVerse 3 or if it gets an update like FighterZ did, which it won't.

I wouldn't say the devs don't care necessarily. If they didn't care, then they wouldn't provide free updates that change the game, most of which are for the better (except for the crappy limit bursts).
The servers are a bit wack, but the devs said once before that they couldn't fix the servers without affecting the other games that are utilizing the same servers, (which wouldn't be fair to the people that play those other games). Xenoverse has its faults, but no matter how much people choose to crap on it, it's still a game with good and fun features here and there.
Like personally, I don't care for FighterZ because of some of their awkward and unreliable mechanics, but I don't think that it makes it a bad game. Xenoverse, may have its faults, just like every other game does, but that doesn't make it a bad game.

@@jerredB51 Nah, they actually don't give enough of a sh*t to polish the game. They care enough to release DLC, yeah, but that's because that gives them quick bucks. They know what Xenoverse 2 does for them as a company. Xenoverse is debatably Dragon Ball's most popular game outside of fighters. The game sold 7 million copies in the span of 5 years. It's bullsh*t that they see the game that way when it deserves much more than that.
Could you elaborate with the servers statement though? That's new. I've never heard anyone talk about something like that.
Deep down, I do love Xenoverse. This comment is coming from someone that does like the game, but there are small things that destroy the game for plenty of people and it shouldn't be that way. It doesn't deserve to be that way neither.
Seriously though, I'd love to hear more about this "can't fix the games netcode because of servers" talk. You're the first I've heard it from.

@@TheBigDynamo Well, one thing I've noticed about modern games is that most of the companies don't truly care to polish their work. I'm not saying that it's a good excuse, I'm just saying that unfortunately, that's very common. The devs have been improving the game since launch, like making it so that some moves pull you into them on contact because people used to fall out of them very frequently (such as the Super Spirit Bomb, Serious Bomb, Super Ki Explosion, etc.) Or the fact that they added Hero Coliseum (which I personally don't play) completely free and every addition made for it is free as well.
The reason I mentioned the free updates is because that doesn't make them money. They've had at least 5-6 free updates for PvP (so roughly about 1 update each year) that changed various skills and how they behave or act. At least 4 of those free updates reworked over 100 skills at a time. If I remember correctly, one of the updates even changed over 200 skills when it was released. I mention this specifically because I like to play PvP, and plenty of cheese players would exploit moves like Aura Slide or Fake Death. But once the devs nerfed how cheesy those moves were, the cheese players had to move on to something else. Or consider when the devs updated the game so that it took only 2 bars of stamina to use some evasives instead of all of them requiring 3; nobody asked them to do that but it was one of the better updates that improved the fighting dynamics of the game.
And for the server issue, the devs discussed it twice a few years ago. At one point, the producer (Hirano-san I believe is his name) made an announcement that net code fixes would be coming to the game to aid with online performance. You can find that video on Bandai Namco's RUclips channel. And at another point, they mentioned that they couldn't overhaul the servers to fix the net code because it would affect the online experience of the other games on their servers, which can be a legit concern, given that other games and companies have experienced these issues before. I believe Steedoj even referenced it in one of his recent videos, comparing it to when one of the Naruto games was experiencing issues with modders, and Bandai (or whoever was responsible for the game) tried to resolve the issue.

@@jerredB51 If they're buffing, debuffing moves and changing things in the game, they're probably just not doing it fast enough. But I do believe you and I have seen changes in the game that have benefitted the game a lot and also hurt the game a lot.
For example, you mentioned 2 bar and 3 bar evasives. Android 18's Evasive, Rolling Bullet used to cost 3 bars of stamina to use years ago. Not too long ago, they buffed the move and gave it 2 bars. Moves that do not harm the opponent for great damage should all be 2 bars of stamina. However, evasives such as Fake Blast and Dragon Burn (which are definitely cheese moves players use) can destroy any value in matchups for lots of people. Fake Blast not only gives the user free hits but it also has full armor, meaning if the victim vanishes out of the blast, they can't punish you either way. So you either have to waste a bar of stamina or force yourself to take hits. Dragon Burn is basically this but I would say worst.
Another great example are two evasives Goku and Piccolo utilize. Spirit Explosion and Super Explosive Wave. These are both 2 bar evasives which greatly help getting out of the way with attacks. But Super Explosive Wave not only does more than the usual damage, but it can be used for combos and cheesers have proven this time and time again.
If they're actually taking time to buff and debuff dozens of moves in the game, that's honestly fine. What isn't fine though is the servers unfortunately not being able to get better because of other games. Is there really no way they could seperate Xenoverse to have it's own servers? Can't they do this with their other games as a whole? That sounds so sh*tty.

@@TheBigDynamo I'm 100% with you on that. I wish they could provide other servers, but I think most companies don't do that because it's too cost heavy. Most companies utilize the method simply because it is often very efficient. Unfortunately for Xenoverse, that's not the case. Personally, I believe that Xenoverse suffers tremendously because of their stupid hub-world setup, which just has a bunch of people sitting on the server at any given time just doing nothing, which previous Dragon Ball games didn't suffer from. They should've done it the way FighterZ did, where the hub-world is significantly smaller. Or just don't do a hub-world at all.
But I feel you on the evasives thing, because fighting a guy just spamming Fake Blast and Dragon Burn the entire match is wack because they know how little effort it requires. But that's kinda like what I mentioned earlier where cheese players will always find something new to cheese unfortunately and ruin the experience for every one else.
