Attention community! Cory Boatwright, LinkedIn’s Head of Military and Veteran Programs and Partnerships, will summarize the report to the Military-Civilian Transition Research Forum & discuss its implications for #employers and #government agencies onWednesday, December 13 at 3 PM EST.Here’s some of the highlights of the report:- Veterans have many of today's most in-demand skills, with their first roles after the military often being in high-skilled jobs- Veterans are less likely than non-Veterans to leave their first job within 6 months- Veterans are less likely to reach leadership roles than non-Veterans, and companies generally do not value military experience the same way they count work experience in non-military rolesJoin in on the discussion! Skillbridge has been an invaluable tool for many of my active duty colleagues in transitioning to the private sector. In my view, it's the single best reform in the last generation to help people bridge the gap from military to a successful civilian life. With less than 1% of Americans serving in the armed forces today, many employers are hesitant to hire even the strongest performers from the military due to a lack of familiarity with how military skills translate into the commercial world. Skillbridge removes that risk and gives servicemen and women a low-risk tryout for a job they might not otherwise have. This "pause" is unsurprising given the retention and recruiting issues we are seeing across the joint force, but DoD should think *very* carefully before limiting or blowing up this program. https://lnkd.in/eCTEpJTw

Team I wanted to share two good websites. 1. https://lnkd.in/d8GPN_zY Helps to discover what you want to do, skills required, salary, and job market outlook. 2. https://lnkd.in/dNGcypy6As a Servicemember, you can earn an apprenticeship with the OJT and military training you already get while serving— you simply need to enroll and record your work hours. Why not get a valuable nationally-recognized apprenticeship with the training you already have, doing the work you're already doing?

The project was built in partnership with Weber State University and Hill Air Force Base. Military spouses attend courses that transition to mission critical positions.During the program development, it was realized that for many childcare was a limiting factor. Especially, if there was travel or long commuting involved. In fact, to eliminate this concern we have ensured that daycare is provided for parents with young children on in-person class days.Hill Air Force BaseWeber State University309th Software Engineering Group (SWEG); Hill AFBCatalyst Campus, OgdenAniza Brown 👩🏻💻🚀 Amanda McCrea Beth Rhoades Brad Mortensen Steve Nabor Enos Cummings Amy Speier Dan Richardson Michaela 🦄 Flatau Jess Rees Wenndy Garzon Dawn Conley Denise Call#militaryspouses #careerintech #freecourses #job #careerchange #supportourtroops #AgileAF #future # #technology #military

In observance of Veterans Day I'd like to take the opportunity to thank those who served and continue to serve. I'd also like to thank the companies, mentors, and leaders that recognize the untapped potential of our military veteran talent pool. By taking a skill-first hiring approach, you recognize that military veterans bring transferable skills to the civilian workforce, from leadership, communication, and strategic planning to technical skills such as engineering, data analytics, and project management.LinkedIn's Veteran Opportunity report highlights the current state of veteran employment and opportunities within the military talent pool.
